A building in Dolgellau could be demolished to make way for a new community centre.
Gwynedd Council wants to demolish Canolfan Dolfeurig in Dolgellau and build a new centre on the site.
The public is invited to comment on plans for the new centre, which will act as a community hub as well as providing a day care service, giving individuals with learning disabilities the opportunity to attend social events and learn new skills.
Cllr Dafydd Meurig, Gwynedd Council deputy leader and Cabinet member leading on the project, said: “Plans for Dolfeurig have been under way for two years now, and we have already spoken to residents who attend the centre, their families and staff.
“I am delighted to see an investment of over £1.2 million on such an important scheme for the area, and look forward to the centre reopening with new facilities for everyone in the community.
The centre will include a shop and café open to the public as well as a craft workshop, a sensory room and a training kitchen.
“We are now keen to give local residents, businesses and the community the opportunity to have their say. Their support and input is extremely important to the project.
“In usual times we would have held drop-in stands, but as this is not possible due to the current circumstances we would urge anyone who has a comment to contact us by emailing [email protected]u or by calling 01286 679024.
“Any comments on the type of building you want to see will be considered before we submit a planning application and we will invite further comments once the plans have been developed.
“We are also keen to gather ideas for a name for the new centre and welcome any suggestions.”
