A MUCH-LOVED former Aberystwyth councillor has thanked pub-goers who rushed to his aid after he fell in town, ending up with two black eyes and blood running down his face.
Goronwy Edwards MBE, or ‘Groxy’ as he is affectionately known, was walking in Union Street last Thursday when he tripped and fell, hitting the side of his face on the road and leaving him shaken by the experience.
But some kind-hearted people who were inside the Lord Beechings pub at the time saw what happened to Groxy, 82, and rushed to help him.
“What a great bunch of lads,” he said. “I would like to thank the boys in Lord Beechings for their excellent work and Bronglais Hospital for the care I received.
"We are so lucky to have that hospital on our doorstep.”
