A PORTHMADOG landlady has pulled her final pint after 54 years running one of the town’s popular pubs.

Josie Havelock, 69, began working in The Station Inn with her parents when she left school in 1962 and became landlady seven years later.

Josie told the Cambrian News she has enjoyed every second of running her pub over the years.

She said: “I came to work at the pub straight after school and ever since then it has just been my way of life.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute, I’ve made so many friends over the years and my long-term customers have become like family to me.”

Her son, Jimmy Havelock, will now take over the pub from his mother and keep the establishment within the family.

“My son Jimmy is now running the pub but I’m sure I’ll pop back now and again when I’m needed!"
