THE landlady of The New Inn, Pentregat, Llandysul, has won the Age Cymru Inspirational Individual Award 2017 for her contribution to the creation of an age-friendly Wales.

Tracey Gunn received the award – sponsored by Hugh James – at a glittering awards ceremony in Cardiff hosted by broadcaster Jason Mohammad.

The Age Cymru Inspirational Individual Award recognises an individual who has contributed significantly to the creation of an age-friendly Wales by going the extra mile to meet the needs of older people.

Tracey said: “I feel very humbled to receive this award from Age Cymru and appreciate the people who nominated me.

“I don’t see the things I do as special, but think of them as something we should all take the time to do to make an age-friendly Wales – whether it be by taking the time for a chat or a cup of tea with an elderly neighbour, perhaps taking them shopping or to church, or even by making them smile and once again feel a valued member of our community.

“Loneliness can be everywhere we look so we should all play our part and make a difference.”

Age Cymru chief executive Ian Thomas said: “Tracey truly is inspirational and has changed lives with her drive, dedication and sense of community.”
