Madam,
There can be few old established families in our county without some record of members who were involved in the London Welsh milk trade in the 19th and 20th centuries. The story as a time line from the days of the drovers to the current situation was the theme of two books, Llwybr Llaethog Llundain and The London Milk Trail, published in recent years. They were based on contributions from the public and have become, by default, the definitive account so far.
It has become apparent that there is more material to be “rescued” to make a more comprehensive history and I feel it is important that as much as possible is recorded before it becomes inaccessible.
A new, possibly bilingual, publication is planned in an attempt to have as complete an account as possible based on live narrative rather than archival statistics.
This is an appeal to any reader who has material, anecdotal or pictorial, and who felt unable to respond to earlier requests, to contact me, Megan Hayes, at [email protected] or telephone 01545 570545.
Any material used will, of course, be acknowledged if used in the forthcoming publication.
Yours etc,
Megan Hayes, Aberaeron.
