Garth Holiday Park in Machynlleth has raised £800 for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The money was raised at the park’s annual summer BBQ, with every penny raised going directly to The Fire Fighters Charity.

The charity was chosen by the park’s caravan and cabin owners following the devastating wildfires across Wales and the work undertaken by firefighters and emergency crews.

The cause is also close to the family of the owners of the park, with their uncle and grandfather having both served for Machynlleth Fire Service.

“We are delighted that this year's BBQ raised a total of £800,” said Robert and Edward Rhodes from the park.

“The full £800 has gone to the charity. 

“Garth Holiday Park covered the costs associated with putting on the BBQ, rather than deducting those expenses from the amount raised.

“We would also like to thank Booker in Aberystwyth, who kindly donated some supplies towards the BBQ, and Castell Howell Foods, who supplied the food for the event.

“A particularly big thank you must also go to my aunt and uncle, Tina and Anthony Rhodes, formerly of Plas Dolguog Hotel, for the tremendous amount of help they gave us on the day.

“Tina and Anthony helped with the cooking and also with the sale of their two-pint glasses, with the proceeds from those sales also going towards The Fire Fighters Charity. Their help contributed enormously to making the event such a success.

“Of course, the biggest thank you goes to our caravan and cabin owners and everyone who attended, donated and supported the event. We had a great number of people attending, and the support from our owners and wider park community was fantastic. Without them, none of this would have been possible.”

The park aims to continue the fundraising tradition each year, with owners continuing to choose the charities and good causes to benefit.
