GLASLYN Ospreys volunteer Becci Phasey and her friend Nia Hughes are in training for a mammoth mountain fundraising challenge later this month.

Over the course of one day they will scale the peaks of Yr Wyddfa, Cnicht and the Moelwynion - the

beautiful mountains that form the stunning panoramic view seen from the Glaslyn Ospreys Visitor Centre and Hide at Pont Croesor.

Starting in Llanberis in the early hours on 28 May, the duo will hike 35km and cover a total of 3,254 meters in elevation, finishing at Tanygrisiau.

It’s not the irst time Becci and Nia have raised money for Glaslyn Ospreys. In 2020, they completed the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Yr Wyddfa, Cader Idris and Pen y Fan in 24 hours.

Becci from Gellilydan and Nia from Llanberis are now training hard for their latest trek.

Gwyn Harrison, chairman of the Bywyd Gwyllt Glaslyn Wildlife Trustees said:“Once again, our heartfelt thanks go to Becci and Nia for their fantastic challenge in aid of Glaslyn Ospreys. It’s a tremendous thing to do and we wish them well on every step of the way.”

Becci, a former education officer with the project, who continues to volunteer at Pont Croesor said:

“We hope osprey supporters will follow us virtually on our journey during the day and feel inspired to donate whatever they can to this wonderful cause.”
