Walkers

THE New Quay Walkers travelled to the Llandysul area for their six-mile circular walk on Saturday, 13 August.Led by Jack Davies, 16 walkers met at the Woodland Trust car park, Capel Dewi to be greeted by clearing skies after overnight rain. The weather thereafter was sunny with clear views and ideal for walking. The first section was a pleasant walk through Coedfoel Wood, an ancient deciduous wood-land.After crossing the Gwenffrwd stream via a wooden bridge, the party began the climb through farm fields towards Prengwyn, a small village with a pub and an historic nonconformist chapel. On the way, groups of Welsh cobs were sighted, confirming this as an important breeding area.On the walk back to Capel Dewi there was an incident when a sizeable group of heifers charged up to very close range. In their midst was a bull which fortunately did not get caught up in the excitement, but for 10 minutes there was an air of real anxiety. The next walk is on Saturday, 10 September, with guest leader Ian Medcalf, follows a circular route from Goodwick along the coast path to Carregwastad Point returning via the village of Llanwnda.Meet at the Harbour Village car park above Goodwick at 11am. Further details are available from Glyn on 01545 561285.
