Aberystwyth hairdresser Nia Gore has raised £4,700 for Marie Curie and Ystwyth Surgery District Nurses Equipment Fund after having her head shaved by her daughter Elin as part of her latest fundraising drive.

Nia held her sponsored head shave event at Aberystwyth Rugby Club on Saturday, 1 September, which also featured a raffle and entertainment from singer Paul Dark.

“People who know me know I’m quite vain with my hair, but I hit 40 in September last year and wanted to do something mad whilst I’m still 40,” Nia said.

“I decided on shaving my hair, as I know quite a lot of people affected by cancer, and have had to go through treatment and the loss of their hair.

“It was a fantastic night. I would like to thank everyone who has once again supported my charity event, the maddest one yet.”
