THREE Ceredigion midwives have taken a step closer to their fundraising target to be able to take part in a Himalayan trek after a “very successful” fundraiser in Aberystwyth raised more than £3,500.

Maureen Jones, Claire Tregear-Jones and Julia Taylor, who all work as midwives at Bronglais Hospital, are hoping to take part in a gruelling 10-day trek in October for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

But to be sure of their place on the trek the three colleagues need to raise over £10,000 between them with their fundraising evening, which included entertainment, an auction and raffle, helping the three to reach over £6,000 so far.

Maureen said they were delighted with the turnout for the event at the Marine Hotel on Saturday, 4 February.

She said: “It was a very successful event which raised just over £3,500 which is being equally shared between the three of us towards our individual target of £3,500 each as a minimum."
