Madam,
I am sorry that Mick Green is disappointed not to have received re-sponses to his letters by the time you published his letter (Cambrian News, 10 December). But he is wrong to assert this is some kind of “refusal” to engage, or some threat to our democracy. Patience is indeed a virtue. My offices in London and Aberystwyth spend many hours helping me answer the concerns and problems of constituents, undertaking casework, and making representations to ministers, several hundred each week. This takes time, can involve detailed work, involves inevitably prioritising some cases over others, and can on some occasions involve long waits. In the last two weeks, for example, I have received over 800 representations on Syria alone, in addition to usual casework on a range of issues.
So I would suggest Mr Green continues making representations to his elected representatives, but I‘m afraid he cannot expect a response by return of post, or anything approaching that.
Yours etc
Mark Williams MP.
