AN TOUCHING event to mark the end of the First World War has been held.

The hope for peace O Lwyd i Liw performance took place at Capel Moreia, Trawsfynydd last Sunday.

Combining memories, poetry, folk songs and the history of two young men from the Trawsfynydd area who returned from war, this performance “awakened and stirred the senses”.

Among the performers were Lleuwen Steffan, Gwilym Bowen Rhys, the actor Emlyn Gomer, Ysgol Bro Hedd Wyn, Côr Meibion Prysor, Côr Lliaws Cain and Côr Eisteddfod Môn and a crew of young people from Trawsfynydd.

Speaking ahead the event, Sian Griffiths, Yr Ysgwrn’s project manager said: “This performance will mark the end of a very popular series of events arranged by Yr Ysgwrn over the Autumn to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War.

“It will be a chance to reflect on all the lives and talent lost, and the scars left behind on communities and families the length and breadth of Wales.

“We are very grateful to Siwan Llynor and Mari Pritchard for organising this unique performance.”
