Work to demolish an “underused and increasingly unsightly site” in Aberystwyth is due to be completed in the next few weeks.

The demolition of the former Arriva bus depot and the old candleworks buildings, at Park Avenue in Aberystwyth, was due to start in the autumn of 2020 and then in January but was “delayed due to rising infection rates”.

A spokesperson for Ceredigion County Council said: “The aim is to complete the work over the next few weeks before the summer.

“The demolition will tidy up an underused and increasingly unsightly site. The clearance will allow for alternative temporary uses and help when the council agrees to re market the site for development purposes.”

Aberystwyth councillor Ceredig Davies is pushing for the former bus depot site to be used as additional parking, as “during the height of the summer season there is a need for additional long stay parking for both town residents and visiting tourists”.
