CONCERNED residents attended a council meeting to discuss the future of Llanbedr.

The September meeting of Llanbedr Community Council had a full council presence as well as numerous members of the public.

According to a report submitted by council clerk Morfudd W Lloyd, the heightened attendance was due to the fact that there were “a number of issues and concerns regarding the planning application presented by Gwynedd Council to the Snowdonia National Park Authority lately, regarding new access road at Llanbedr”.

There are numerous unanswered questions relating mostly to flood risks, according to the council report.

These are issues raised also by Natural Resources Wales which the council hopes will be “assessed professionally”.

There were also concerns about what will happen at the Llanbedr Airfield site, where Snowdonia Aerospace Centre hope to build a spaceport in the next few years.

“Other matters arose due to the fact that no one can assure the community of what the outcome will be in the airfield,” said the report.

“Is there a ‘connective development’ between the road and major developments at the airfield?

“Without confirmation to this fact, some in the community are unable to favour the new road development.

“But in principle, it was agreed that a new road is needed at Llanbedr, but there are numerous concerns of what has been offered so far.”
