Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Andy Dunbobbin has praised the commitment and dedication of North Wales Police Cadets.
Mr Dunbobbin visited the Central Division Police Cadets on 6 October, where cadets talked about upcoming events they will be taking part in, such as assisting with Poppy Appeal collections locally and Remembrance Day Parades in Caernarfon.
Dylan, 15, a cadet from Bangor, said: “I like taking part in the cadets as I want to be police officer and dog handler, and I have learnt a lot since being a member.”
North Wales PCC Andy Dunbobbin said: “It was a privilege to spend time with our Police Cadets and see first-hand the enthusiasm, confidence and commitment they bring to the programme. Police Cadets make a hugely positive contribution to our communities. They learn responsibility, leadership and teamwork while gaining experiences that help prepare them for adult life and future careers.
“I would also like to pay tribute to the dedicated volunteers and staff who give their time and energy to support our cadets. Their commitment helps create opportunities that inspire and empower young people across North Wales.”
Andrew Harris, North Wales Police Cadet Coordinator, commented: “Cadets are a diverse group of 13-18 year olds from across North Wales. The cadet programme gives them the opportunity to learn various new skills, gain an insight into British policing and support their communities through a range of various activities. They are supported throughout their time in cadets by committed volunteer cadet leaders, who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience. There are many skills and activities, which cadets can gain throughout their time within the programme, and benefit from, not only in their personal lives, but also in their future employment.”
