AN ASPIRING young politician from Criccieth has been voted onto the first-ever Youth Parliament for Wales.

Ifan Price, 17, will represent the young people of the Dwyfor-Meirionydd area in Gwynedd on the Welsh Youth Parliament for the next two years.

The Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor student is one of 60 representatives aged 11 to 18 elected from a pool of over 450 nominees around Wales – 40 of which were voted in after 20,000 young people cast their votes in a nation-wide election in November.

The remaining 20 members were elected by young people from outside organisations.

Ifan said: “Politics is something I have always had an interest in, so going for this was a bit of a no-brainer.

“It’s very exciting! I will be going down to the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff Bay three or four times over the next couple of years to sit in the chamber itself.

“I initially heard about it during a trip with the Welsh BAC down to Aberystwyth and my friends all seemed to know I would be applying for it before I’d said anything.

“It’s just definitely the kind of thing I’d love to do!”
