A PONTERWYD councillor has resigned from a council scrutiny committee after he failed to attend a single meeting in 2014/15.

Cllr Rhodri Davies (seen left), who represents the Melindwr ward, resigned from the thriving communities scrutiny committee for the 2015/16 year.

Records showed that when he was a member of the committee in 2014/15 he failed to attend a single meeting of the committee which met nine times.

Cllr Davies said he decided to resign from the committee as he could not dedicate the time necessary to handle his other council commitments, as well as represent the ward, work and spend time with his family.

He said: “I have had to resign from the thriving communities committee due to the fact that many other responsibilities take up so much of my time.
