BBC Children in Need have awarded a total of £59,630 in new funding to local groups Ieuenctid Tysul Youth and Home-Start Ceredigion who work with disadvantaged children and young people across the county.
The cash boost, from the charity’s small grants programme, is the second round of funding awarded to projects so far in 2018 and brings the total currently invested in Ceredigion to more than £335,000.
Ieuenctid Tysul Youth, of Llandysul, will use over £29,000 to provide a youth club for local children and young people living in areas of deprivation.
The project will deliver an after-school drop-in facility and an evening social and activity club where children and young people can access support services, developmental activities and have fun with their peers in a safe, friendly and accessible environment.
“We are pleased to have secured yet more funding from BBC Children in Need to continue our after school drop-in facility and evening social and activity club for children and young people living in rural areas of deprivation in Ceredigion,” said Steve Parkin, project manager at Ieuenctid Tysul Youth.
Lampeter-based Home-Start Ceredigion is also celebrating a grant of £29,822 to provide support to local pre-school children who have additional needs.
The three-year grant will enable them to work with the children on both a one-to-one and group basis to give each child increased confidence and self-esteem in the lead up to them starting school.
