Pupils and staff at Ysgol Bro Hyddgen’s primary campus in Machynlleth have raised over £3,000 for charity.
The school hosted a special Race for Life on the school’s Trac Dal i Fynd as part of Race for Life’s schools programme on 24 May, raising £3,168.30 for Cancer Research.
All 180 pupils aged from four to 11 years old joined forces with staff, to take on cancer, and ran a total of 242 miles in aid of Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
Haf ap Robert, assistant headteacher at Ysgol Bro Hyddgen, said: “The event was a huge success. The children’s enthusiasm and the parents’ and carers’ support is a tribute to this wonderful community’s caring nature.
“Sadly, most of us know someone who has been touched by cancer and we all have our special reasons for taking part and wanting to help more people survive.
“All the children run on the Trac Dal i Fynd every day and were in a good place to take on the challenge to run for 20 minutes round the 220-metre track.”
