COMMUNITY leaders in Pwllheli have congratulated a former Ysgol Glan y Mor pupil who sang the national anthem prior to the three New Zealand v Wales tests last month.

Singer Elin Tomos, 27, fulfilled a lifelong dream this summer when she performed the Welsh National Anthem before three All Blacks vs Wales test matches in New Zealand.

The mezzo soprano performed in front of bumper crowds in Auckland, Dunedin, as well as the Kiwi capital, Wellington.

Elin, who used to live in Pwllheli before moving to the southern hemisphere four years ago, studied music at King’s College and now works as a primary school teacher in Blenheim, a town on the north coast of New Zealand’s South Island.

Elin who has sung with the Wales National Youth Choir previously, is currently performing in the stage show Mamma Mia in Marlborough to an audience of 600 people every night.

Cllr Mici Plwm, told his fellow members at a recent Pwllheli Town Council meeting that he was immensely proud of Elin and urged the council to send a letter of congratulations to the singer.
