RETIRED Aled Rees, 64, of Pwllheli has donated his 100th pint of blood to the NHS Blood and Transplant Service and was rewarded with a medal and certificate to mark his achievement.

Aled worked as a manager at the Post Sorting Office in Pwllheli before retiring and was also a fireman in the town for 24 years.

He gave his 100th pint back in September this year and has no plans to give up and will be one of the first queuing in about three months when he will be allowed to give blood once again as he can only give it every six months.

Giving blood is a bit of a family affair for Aled.

His wife Mary Lou has given 69 pints, his daughter Karen Rees Roberts, 33 pints and her brother Chris has given 10 pints, giving the Rees family a total of 212 pints of blood donated.
