Motorists are being told to avoid the A485 in north Carmarthenshire following a serious collision earlier this afternoon.

Dyfed Powys Police say the main road between Llanllwni and Llanybydder was closed following a one-vehicle collision at around midday today.

A car is believed to have collided with a tree.

A woman suffered injuries as a result and is believed to have been airlifted to hospital.

In a post on social media, Dyfed Powys Police said: "We are dealing with an road traffic collision on the A485 between Llanllwni and Llanybydder - on the approach to Llanybydder.

"The road is currently CLOSED and will be for some time. Please avoid the area. Diversions are being set up with the council."
