AN RNLI volunteer from Aberaeron has been recognised for her long service to the charity at a special awards ceremony in Swansea.

Volunteers from across Wales who have given decades — and in some cases a whole lifetime — of dedicated service to the RNLI were recognised at an awards ceremony at the Guildhall in Swansea on Friday, 30 September.

Among those receiving awards from the outgoing RNLI chairman, Charles Hunter Pease, was Judy Davies from the Aberaeron branch, who was awarded the Bar to her Gold Badge, which are given for exceptional long-service.

Mr Hunter-Pease said: “Judy is a real asset in this hard-working branch. Judy has had an active role in developing new events for the team, targeting new audiences which are essential to helping us spread the word about the RNLI.

“She has also assisted us with our online accounting programme and has ensured the branch transferred successfully to this system. We simply couldn’t fund-raise in Aberaeron without Judy’s support. Congratulations Judy on your well-deserved Gold Badge.”
