A CARTREFI Cymunedol Gwynedd tenant has received special recognition for her work in the community at a prestigious awards ceremony.
Margaret Bracegirdle from Penygroes was nominated in the tenant lifetime contribution category at the UK Housing Heroes Awards for her voluntary work on behalf of Gwynedd tenants over the years.
The Housing Heroes Awards recognise the hard work of people in the housing sector, and many of the awards celebrate the ‘unsung heroes’ of the housing world.
Margaret was a CCG Board member for six years, and was a member of the shadow board whilst CCG was being established seven years ago.
She played an important role in the transfer of the housing stock from the Council to CCG.
Ffrancon Williams, CCG chief executive, said: “I have known Margaret for 15 years, and seen her progress from championing tenants’ issues through to representing tenants’ interests on the Board of CCG, and nationally through the Welsh Tenants Federation and TPAS.
“She is a dedicated and hardworking" individual who has given tirelessly of her time to the housing sector."
Over the years, Margaret has also been Chair of TPAS Cymru — the organisation who look after tenant rights, and locally she has worked hard on behalf of Penygoes tenants by playing an active role in her work with Trem yr Wyddfa Tenant and Resident Society.
Margaret added: “It was a brilliant night with good company, myself and everyone there from CCG were so please that I was highly commended. It’s something I’ll never forget, I was so shocked."
