SOME famous-looking faces have raised over £2,000 for charity in Barmouth.
The sixth annual ‘Stars in their Eyes meets the X Factor’ held at the Buffs Club, Barmouth, on Saturday evening, raised an amazing £2,385 for Sarcoma UK, the Soft Tissue & Bone Cancer charity.
The charity was chosen in memory of local Andy Farrell who sadly lost his life to the disease.
The event has now raised almost £13,000 since its inauguration in 2011.
The winner of the evening was Greg Smithies who sang as Bryan Adams – with James Harris and Tyrone Carr, as Kanye West & Jay-Z ,in the runners-up spot.
Organiser Craig Papirnyck said: “We had some unbelievable acts this year with Westlife, Mark Holloway; Stuart Pilling, Bobby and Gareth Griffith; Justin Bieber, Sion Griffith; Britney Spears, Abi James; Sam Smith, Dave Smith. And our DJs, Damien Williams and Paul Lewis, did a special collaboration to open the evening’s event as Dr Dre and Eminem.”
This year’s judges were Mathew Kelly, Gareth Catherwood; Gary Barlow, Anthony Schorah, and Geri Halliwell, Lewis Lodder.
Presenters for the evening were Ant and Dec, aka Daniel Owen and Craig Papirnyk.
Craig added: “Once again it’s all credit to the people and businesses of Barmouth who year after year put their hands in their pockets to raise this amazing amount of money for charity.”
The total of £2,385 was raised for Sarcoma UK, including £1,000 match-funded by Barclays Bank.
