Madam,
Following the impact of Storm Callum it is pleasing to note that our communities at Llandysul and Pontweli are slowly getting back to normality. However for some households, businesses and social enterprises, they are still in the process of undertaking remedial works which will take a further good few months before issues are totally resolved. The community spirit and support has been genuine and generous throughout, and continues with grateful thanks to all concerned.
Substantial damage was caused to the perimeter fence along the Memorial Park trustee land, and there was damage sustained to the tennis courts and cricket nets. It transpired that fences were not covered by insurance policies and the huge task of re-erecting the fences would fall on the riparian owners. In rode our knight in shining armour in the guise of Alan Williams of A Williams Contract Services Ltd, Llandysul.
Following discussion between Alan, myself and Rev Gareth Reid (chair of the Memorial Park), Alan agreed not only to commit his professional workforce to undertake the work but to also cover the cost of the required materials to complete the work, which was not an insignificant amount of money. I would on behalf of our community, who value greatly our sports fields and parkland, like to thank A Williams Contract Services Ltd for a job well done.
Yours etc, County councillor Keith Evans, Ward Member, Llandysul.
