A 20-TONNE piece of manufacturing equipment thought to be one of the largest loads ever landed at the harbour in Aberaeron has been transported to the Volac dairy site in Felinfach.

The equipment, which was the first commercial sea delivery since the 1930s, made the six-mile, 35-minute journey by road to Felinfach on Sunday.

Unloaded by a crane at high tide the previous week, the equipment, manufactured in Germany, had taken two weeks to be transported by sea barge to Ceredigion.

On Sunday, it made its way from Beach Parade via Wellington Street and on to the A487 then the A482 to the Volac factory in Felinfach accompanied by a convoy of four police motorcyclists, one police vehicle, one BT Openreach, one Western Power vehicle and one civilian escort.

The journey passed smoothly although at one point a parked car had to be moved because it was deemed to be causing an obstruction as the convoy made its way through town.
