Madam,
My wife and myself had a very nice long weekend in Aberystwyth over the August bank holiday.
On the way we called at Llanidloes on a nostalgia kick, to view my late Granny Jones’s cottage. Sadly, the gorgeous cobblestone footpath has been replaced be a “modern” one.
We also called at my late Uncle Den and Auntie Jessie’s place in Lovedon Road, Aberystwyth. This is now let in apartments, unfortunately.
The bandstand on Aberystwyth’s seafront was excellent. We attended a folk session. There was one ‘elderly’ 80-year-old bloke doing a solo spot of fine baritone vocal. We also listened to the CÔr Cyd Thelynors (plus harpist) choir. Lovely singing in Welsh. And we also viewed some traditional dancing plus the jolly and very competent Aberystwyth Silver Band (I’ve wrestled with tenor and baritone saxophone for years).
I like to keep physically toned up and I had two or three swims per day on the front and the sea was really clean. Well Done Aber!
Yours etc,
George Jones, Redfern Avenue, Kenilworth.
