I am very glad the lockdown is not being prematurely eased in Wales.

May I make two suggestions?

Firstly, in any circumstance, if everyone there is wearing a mask, then each person is being protected by the masks of all others. Masks worn by all in supermarkets are therefore surely a good thing.

Secondly, it surely is a good idea for all of us to know the degree of infectivity in our locality. If the disease is present some of us may want to increase social distancing where that is possible. We might also want to mention politely to others who are apparently headed for invading our four-metre diameter circle that the disease is prevalent in this locality, and so to beware. Friends and family who have started to display laxities will surely tighten up.

I do not think knowing that there is little or no disease in a locality will cause those who are scrupulous in locking down, to drop their guard. After all, we live here in an area that took to locking down autonomously before governments made it compulsory or even advisory.

I do feel that issues of privacy violation should not stop us knowing the strength of the disease in our locality.
