Madam,
I see that the Hyperbole Theatre Company is withdrawing its plans for a performing arts centre at Llandysul because Cymdeithias yr Iaith has had a go at them for not doing it in Welsh (‘Theatre group scraps school plans after row’, Cambrian News, 1 August).
I have to say that the reverse probably wouldn’t have happened - ie someone or other “having a go” if it had been in Welsh only!
So why have a go because it was in English?
That does not strike me as fair.
Cymdeithias should be ashamed of themselves for the fact that some of their members took it upon themselves to ensure that a facility a lot of young people would like has been harassed out of existence before it even started.
I hope the people responsible can look any young person in the eye that has been deprived of a facility they would have enjoyed.
Yours etc, J Barber, Cardigan.
