Commoners (95) lost to Aberaeron (183 for 7) by 88 runs

ABERAERON returned to winning ways after their defeat to Talybont in the West Wales Conference as they notched victory by 88 runs against the Commoners.

Openers Dave Grinzspan (47, with 6 fours) and John Fice (29, 3 fours) gave Aberaeron a steady start and there were contributions from Alex Pitchford (21), David Floyd (17) and Hywel Rees (15) before the overs ran out, with the score on 183 for 7.

James Bryan (2 for 30) and Umar Aslam (2 for 35) led the attack, with Rakesh Bhatia and Ian Lawton taking a wicket each.

In reply, the normally solid Commoners batting did not fire with Simon Mitchell (4 for 9 off 6 overs) taking the wickets off four of the first five batsmen for just 9.

There was some resistance from Wil Copeland (15), Jan Ruzika (15) and Guy Baron (24 not out) but the writing was on the wall and the Commoners were dismissed for 95 runs all out in 31.1 overs.

Steffan Rees (3 for 15) and Sion Lewis (1 for 13) snapped up the remaining wickets, with Dave Floyd taking three catches.
