Narberth (128) beat Llechryd (123) by 5 runs

LLECHRYD suffered an agonising defeat as they were bowled out just five runs short of victory against Narberth at the Lewis Lloyd Ground in their Pembrokeshire League division two encounter.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Llechryd had early success as opener Aaron Keane was bowled by Graham Keene and super veteran left-arm seamer Peter Betteley had Richard Adams caught by Andrew Fletcher, to make it 5 for 2.

Betteley (4 for 11 from 12 overs, seven maidens) also removed Kyle Quartermaine for 13, had Jordan Howell caught by John Curran for 0, and Ben Quartermaine stumped for 3, to make it 23 for 5.

Loui Davies, however, kept focus with the bat at the other end, and he received support from Dan Hughes (2) and Ben Hughes (17), on his way to a half century.

There was further success for Graham Keen (3 for 28 from 10.1 overs) and John Curran (3 for 31 from 10) as Narberth were dismissed for 128 all out, with Loui Davies there at the end on 59 not out, having struck 7 fours and a six off 120 balls.

Llechyrd’s reply was in trouble at 16 for 3, as Andrew Fletcher, Dewi Davies and Adam Betts failed to make an impact - although John Curran showed resistance.

Curran top-scored for Llechryd with 46 runs, but a crucial point came when he was run out, to make it 88 for 5, with only Joe Mansfield (15) and Michael Godfrey (12) managing double figures in support.

In a thrilling finale, it was Owen Richards who was the hero of the hour as he claimed two late wickets to help Narberth cross the finishing line in the 42nd over, with a bare five runs still in hand.

Loui Davies showed why he is such a massive prospect for Narberth as he followed his cracking innings with a 3 for 24 bowling stint, alongside Ben Quartermaine (3 for 27), Matthew Johns (1 for 15), and Richards (2 for 18) as Llechryd suffered defeat by the narrowest of margins.

Llechryd II (64) lost to Carew II (68 for 3)

LLECHRYD Seconds are in real danger of relegation in division three after a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of their visiting Carew Secods at the RDM Oval.

The Teifisiders were skittled for 64 with only Ben Graham (18) and Scott Thomas (14 not out) putting up any real resistance to some accurate bowling by medium-pacer James Hinchcliffe (4 for 16), Tudor Hurle (2 for 1) and Kerry Waters (2 for 3).

Carew knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets, with the top scorer being opener Hayden Shapcott on 27, supported by Morgan Grieve (10) and Iori Hicks (10). Scott Thomas picked up 2 for 14.

• Crymych lost by four wickets against division four leaders Llangwm Seconds, after Rhodri Thomas had made 54 and Alan Luke 34 in their total of 135 all out.

In reply, Shaun Waller made 40 and Andrew Harries contributed 35 as Llangwm sealed their win at 136 for 6 in 22 overs, despite 16 year-old Thomas claiming 2 wickets for 33 and Sam Kurtz 2 for 26.
