Crymych (267 for 5) beat Hook Seconds (145 all out) by 122 runs

RICHARD Thorne made a superb century at Glandycross to steer Crymych to a solid 122-run victory over Hook Seconds in the Thomas Carroll Pembrokeshire League division four on Saturday.

Thorne carved out a fantastic knock of 124 as the Preseli men posted a big total of 267 for 5, with some excellent support from skipper Sam Kurtz, who made 67.

Dan Griffiths finished on 30 not out and Rhodri Lewis was 23 not out as the hosts set an imposing run chase for the Hook second team. There were wickets for Andrew Thomas, 2 for 33, and Chris Holder, 2 for 43.

In reply, Jonathan Clout made 39 and Phil Griffiths 27, but runs were hard to come by against some very tight bowling, and the visitors were all out for 146.

Wickets fell to Ioan Davies, 3 for 20, all-rounder Griffiths 3 for 21, Harri Dunn 2 for 26, Daniel Jones, 1 for 23, and James George 1 for 16, as Crymych notched their fourth league win of the season.Meanwhile Llechryd Seconds continued their fine run of form in the Thomas Carroll Pembrokeshire League division four as they picked up their fifth win of the campaign with a nine-wicket triumph over Carew Thirds at the RDM Oval last weekend.

Having first use of a decent batting strip the visitors put up little resistance as they were bowled out for just 46 runs, with no batsman making it into double figures.

Neil Croucher claimed 3 wickets for just 6 runs, Luke Palmer-Davies claimed 2 for 15, Kelvin Holmes 2 for 14, Richard Davies 2 for 10, and Peter Gregory 1 for 0.

In reply the hosts rattled off the runs in quick time, despite losing opener Duncan Blackburn, who was caught and bowled by Jamie Heeps before making an impact.

LLECHRYD were without free-scoring skipper John Curran and Steve Smith as they slipped to their first defeat of the season in the Thomas Carroll Pembrokeshire League division two with a seven-wicket defeat to high-flying Narberth.

Johnnie Lewis (59) made a half century, and James Betterley 13, but the visitors were all out for just 103, with Mike Reekie claiming 3 wickets for just 4 runs. Loui Davies returned 2 for 16, Ben Quartermaine 3 for 22, and Lewis Hough 2 for 21.

In the Narberth reply, Richard Adams made 30 runs, before Hedd Luff (36 not out) and Kyle Quartermaine (34 not out) saw their side safely home for the loss of three wickets. Graham Keen claimed 2 for 17, and Andrew Fletcher took 1 for 28.
