The Black and Ambers probed at the Tywyn back line, and it paid off on 11 minutes when skipper Sion Clarke brought the ball out of defence and lofted a superb ball for willing runner Davies to race on to.
The striker beat his marker and drew the visiting keeper, before expertly lifting the ball into the empty net.
Aberaeron settled and showed better composure on the ball, with the excellent Gareth Severs finding pockets of space between the lines to put Davies in again - but the keeper was equal to his shot this time.
The visitors tried to reassert themselves physically, but a late challenge on Ryan Jones saw the Tywyn midfielder being yellow-carded.
Jones seemed to bear the brunt of the visiting side’s frustrations as another tackle earned Tywyn their second yellow in two minutes.
Chances were few and far between for either side as the half drew to an end, although Gareth Evans received a needless yellow for an off-the-ball incident.
The second half started with Tywyn looking to make up for a lacklustre first half by harassing and chasing the ball, and put the home side on the back foot.
A combination of tired legs and misplaced passes meant the visitors continued to grow in confidence, but the home defence stood firm with Rhodri Edwards and Gareth Lewis in particular making short work of many Tywyn advances.
Rhodri Thomas came on for Ryan Jones, as manager Jason Jones shuffled his side around to counter the continuous threat, and fresh legs seemed to have the required impetus as good work across the midfield saw David Evans bring a good save from keeper.
The corner saw Tywyn clear the ball off the line and a goal-mouth scramble eventually saw the ball go over the bar for a goal kick.
Jamie Owen came on for David Evans as Aeron finished the game stronger, to seal a good three points for the new management team.
Carno made the worst possible start in their division one campaign as they went down 6-2 away against Llanrhaeadr on Saturday.
Four goals by Iwan Matthews and a brace from Tom Evans ensured that Llanrhaeadr made a flying start to their league season.
Llanrhaeadr started far better and were two goals up inside the first 20 minutes as Carno twice gave the ball away and twice they were punished. The visitors reduced the arrears, however, when Ioan Humphreys saw his cross turned into the back of net by the Llanrhaeadr centre back.
Carno started the second half brightly after a reshuffle, and Ashley Owen was denied by a smart save, before they levelled on 66 minutes after Peter Rees squared the ball for Toby Evans to fire into the net.
A minute later, however, they were behind again after conceding from a corner, and Llanrhaeadr dominated the final 20 minutes, scoring three more goals, two on the break and a penalty after Andrew Evans was adjudged to have fouled.
Bow Street made a disappointing start to their campaign as they were beaten 3-2 at home to Berriew, despite two replies from Ifan Burrell. Two goals from Karl Seliaerts and a single from new signing Matt Mumford, the top scorer at Kerry last season, secured the visitors the three points.
Machynlleth meanwhile found it tough going as they went down 5-0 against former Cymru Alliance club Rhayader Town, where two goals from Matty Lewis were followed by three own goals by the visiting side.
