ABERYSTWYTH Town return to Aberystwyth University Park Avenue for the first time in almost four weeks this evening (Friday), with a mouthwatering Novira Cymru South encounter against Pure Swansea, as second hosts first in the league table.

Craig Williams’ side head into the fixture in excellent form, having won their last five matches in all competitions. The Black & Greens also secured their place in the next round of the Welsh Cup last weekend, with a 2-0 victory away to Tier 4 side Menai Bridge Tigers.

Tonight’s fixture represents Aber’s toughest test of the season so far. Pure Swansea have set the early pace in the Novira Cymru South, sitting top of the table with five wins from their opening six league matches and 16 points to their name.

The visitors remain unbeaten in the league and have dropped points on just one occasion, drawing 4-4 at home to Pontypridd United on 28 August. They did, however, suffer their first defeat of the season last weekend, going down 3-2 to Trethomas Bluebirds in the Welsh Cup.

Pure Swansea were formed in 2011 as Team Swansea and have also competed under the name Swansea University during their 15-year history. The club enjoyed a meteoric rise through the Swansea Senior Leagues before winning the Novira Cymru South under their Swansea University guise in 2020.

After a three-year absence from the second tier, they have returned following an impressive 2025/26 campaign which saw them claim the Ardal South West title.

The club strengthened over the summer, with several notable additions to their squad.

Kyle Copp arrives following a prolific campaign with Pontardawe Town, where he scored 25 goals to help the club secure promotion to the second tier, whilst Bradley Gibbings and Danny Williams have both joined following spells in the top flight with Llanelli Town and Noah Osborne has returned to the club after a season with Carmarthen Town.

Pure Swansea striker Casey Coughlin currently leads the Novira Cymru South scoring charts with six goals. Kyle Coppand Aber’s own Aaron Williams are just one goal behind him on five, while Bradley Gibbings has also made an impressive start to the campaign with four goals.

With both sides occupying the top two positions in the table, Friday night promises to be a fascinating contest between two teams who have made impressive starts in the Novira Cymru South.
