BOW STREET’s relegation concerns deepened in the MMP Mid Wales League division one as they let a two-goal interval lead slip in a dramatic last-gasp 3-2 defeat away at Builth Wells.

Their ninth league defeat of the season sees the Magpies remain in a bottom two position, and points will be top of their Christmas wish list, ahead of their Boxing Day showdown at home to Aberaeron.

The Magpies started brightly and they went two goals up at the interval through Tom Williams and Tom Wyn Roberts.

Danny Ives reduced deficit for the Wellmen from a Josh Price cross, and further home pressure saw Sam Williams have a free-kick superbly saved, before Dean Evans missed glorious chance for Street.

The Magpies looked to be heading for a welcome win until the 86th minute when Johnny Samuel made it 2-2 with a 25 yard screamer, and worse was to follow for Bow Street right on 90 minutes when Johnny Samuel’s cross-shot eluded everyone and found its way into the net.

Goals from Joe Morris and Josh Matthews earned Carno a 2-2 draw with Llansantffraid Village, who scored through Jake Harris and Nathan Prodger.

Carno will travel to Llandrindod Wells on Wednesday evening, before then hosting Tywyn/Bryncrug on Boxing Day.

Llanidloes’ scheduled trip to Aberaeron was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch as rainswept conditions took their toll, with several teams being sidelined.

The next opposition for the Daffs will be Caersws at Victoria Avenue in a top-of-the-table showdown on Boxing Day.

The Bluebirds, whose match at Churchstoke was also cancelled, remain one point clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand on Llanidloes, and they will first entertain Berriew on Saturday.

Berriew’s match at Tywyn/Bryncrug and Llandrindod’s game at Llanfair were also cancelled on Saturday, as was Radnor Valley’s trip to Welshpool on Friday.
