THE Central Wales Football Association has confirmed the line-ups for the new-look Mid Wales League West and East sections, with both leagues operating at level four of the Welsh football pyramid.
Just nine clubs will compete in the West section, which stretches from South Ceredigion to Gwynedd, with long distance away trips in prospect for some teams.
Aberaeron and Tywyn/Bryncrug have both dropped down from the Mid Wales League division one after failing to secure Tier Three Certification, whilst Aberystwyth University, Borth United, Dolgellau and Dyffryn Banw join from Mid Wales division two.
They are joined by Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth and District League division one champions Tregaron Turfs, Costcutter Ceredigion League division one side Newcastle Emlyn and Welsh Alliance division two side Barmouth and Dyffryn United.
“The Central Wales FA, in conjunction with the Morris Marshall Poole with Norman Lloyd Mid Wales League, is pleased to announce that, having considered all applications received for the new Tier Four Mid Wales League there will be a West Division and an East Division for season 2020/2021,” a spokesmen said.
“The FAW has now introduced four new regional leagues at Tier Three of the FAW Pyramid for season 2020/21, which will be directly affiliated to the FAW. The Central Wales FA will be responsible for the leagues at Tier Four and below.
“Inevitably, the introduction of these new leagues has a significant impact in the Central Wales Area, more so than any other Area in Wales. Whereas historically, the pathway for Clubs in Central Wales has been north, it is now north or south from Tier 4 to the regional leagues.
“The CWFA will be able to help mitigate the travel costs of longer distance games, and the entire approach of CWFA has been to devise a competition at Tier Four which is manageable for our clubs.
The nine clubs making up the Mid Wales West Division are Dolgellau; Tywyn/Bryncrug; Barmouth; Dyffryn Banw; Borth Utd; Aberystwyth University; Tregaron; Aberaeron; Newcastle Emlyn.
The 14 clubs making up the Mid Wales East Division, from the Mid Wales League, Montgomeryshire League and Mid Wales (South), are: Brecon Corries; Bishop’s Castle; Churchstoke; Radnor Valley; Waterloo Rovers; Newbridge on Wye; Llanfyllin; Knighton; Presteigne; Llansantffraid; Builth Wells; Abermule; Forden Utd and Newtown Wanderers.
A Mid Wales League Reserves League is also being considered by the CWFA.
