LLECHRYD booked their place in the next round of the Costcutter Ceredigion League Cup with a convincing 3-0 victory over Dewi Stars on Saturday.

The hosts were deserving winners and could easily have extended their advantage but for a combination of wasteful finishing and an outstanding performance from visiting goalkeeper Alex Biddulph.

Liam Doherty was a constant threat throughout. His first-half brace gave Llechryd a firm grip on the contest and ensured they went into the interval with a commanding lead. Llion Williams later put the result beyond doubt with a well-taken third goal late in the game.

Aberaeron also advanced after edging a dramatic 3-2 encounter against Tregaron Turfs Reserves at Cae Sgwar. Dafydd Roberts opened the scoring after only five minutes following good work from Ben Hamvas, but 16-year-old Elis Hockenhull levelled from the penalty spot on 38 minutes.

The visitors then went in front before the break when Nathan Driver finished off a move created by Alfie Herbert. Turfs looked set to progress as the game entered stoppage time, only for another 16-year-old, Dafydd Williams, to strike a dramatic equaliser and force extra time. Don Edwards then proved the match-winner with the decisive goal.

Crymych eased through with a commanding 5-0 win at Bargod Rangers thanks to goals from Sion Vaughan, Rhodri George, Gethin Evans, Gavin Thomas and Daniel Williams. Meanwhile, Lampeter Town Reserves overcame Llanboidy 4-2 on penalties after neither side could break the deadlock in 120 minutes.

St Dogmaels produced the biggest win of the round, thumping Ffostrasol Reserves 8-1. David Reynolds, Jack Skeels, Jordan Owens and Rhys Jones helped the Saints establish control before half-time, with Jones completing a four-goal haul after the break.

Carwyn Griffiths replied for the visitors before Peter Almond rounded off the scoring 10 minutes from time.
