DOLGELLAU Athletic continued their strong start to the season with an impressive 4-1 away win over Llanfair United in the Lock Stock Ardal North East on Saturday.

The visitors went in front after 15 minutes when Aaron Young's dangerous cross was turned into his own net by Llanfair defender Gethin Stephens.

Gerwyn Williams doubled Dolgellau's advantage moments later, firing home a fine left-footed effort from outside the box.

Dion James made it 3-0 eight minutes before the break, finding space in the area to head home from Young's corner.

Llanfair had an opportunity to reduce the deficit before half-time, but Dol goalkeeper Tyler Andrews produced an excellent save to preserve his side's lead.

The hosts did pull a goal back on the hour mark as Stephens atoned for his earlier misfortune with a thunderous long-range strike.

Dolgellau responded in style, however, restoring their three-goal cushion with the standout goal of the game. After a slick passing move, Paul Lewis delivered a low cross which Williams swept first time into the bottom corner.

Dol manager Rob Evans said: "The team battled well in the rain. I would have liked to see more goals on the day but I can't complain with another three points on the road."

Bow Street returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over last season's runners-up Knighton Town.

The Magpies made the perfect start as Joshua Taylor opened the scoring after just three minutes following good work from Courtney Perkins.

Knighton's task became even harder midway through the first half when Liam Griffiths was sent off, and Street capitalised on their numerical advantage after the break as substitute Osian Burrell doubled the lead.

Shane Sutton gave the visitors hope with a reply, but Bow Street had the final word when substitute James Whitney struck late on to seal the points.
