A POPULAR footballer who has spilt loyalties between Wales and Italy has said he’s confident both sides will get through the play-offs to reach the World Cup finals.

Wales could face an all-British final in Cardiff after their opponents for the World Cup Final play-offs were announced this afternoon.

Cymru will play Austria in a play-off semi-final on Thursday, 24 March next year at Cardiff City Stadium.

Should Rob Page see his team progress, they will play Scotland or Ukraine in the Play-Off Final on Tuesday, 29 March, again in Cardiff.

The Azzurri have a home tie against North Macedonia in their semi final with a trip to either Portugal or Turkey in the final.

Penrhyncoch FC stalwart Jon Foligno, who has Welsh and Italian heritage, said: “It’s an ideal situation for me as long as they both go through of course.

“Both sides have their work cut out for them but in the big games is where Italy and Wales seem to do the business so I’m confident of them both being at the World Cup.

“And fingers crossed they avoid each other whilst there as well.”
