LAMPETER Town moved to the top of the MMP Central Wales League South table after an impressive 4-1 victory over Rhayader Town on Saturday.

The hosts were inspired by a man-of-the-match performance from vice-captain Riley Lovell, who continues to flourish after battling back from a serious injury.

Rhayader made the stronger start and took the lead after 15 minutes when Bradley Goodwin found the net. Lampeter responded positively and gradually gained the upper hand, getting their reward on the stroke of half-time when Jason Jones levelled.

The turnaround was completed moments after the restart as Llywelyn James fired the hosts in front.

With their confidence growing, Lampeter continued to dictate play and Llyr Jones extended the lead on 72 minutes.

Gethin Williams-Evans then put the seal on an excellent afternoon with a late fourth goal as Lampeter secured a convincing win and top spot in the standings.

Tregaron Turfs returned to winning ways with a commanding 3-0 victory over newly-promoted Penparcau.

Having suffered recent defeats against Llanidloes, Llanilar and Lampeter, the Turfs were eager to get back on track and made the ideal start when Lee Morgan opened the scoring after 10 minutes.

Sam Jones doubled the advantage just nine minutes later as the hosts took control. Penparcau battled gamely but found chances hard to come by, and their task became even tougher when Luke Sherbon was sent off after picking up a second yellow card. Morgan completed the scoring with his second goal of the afternoon.

Elsewhere, Bow Street Reserves claimed local bragging rights with a hard-fought derby victory over Penrhyncoch Reserves.

Reuben Pridmore gave the Magpies an early advantage after 12 minutes and Tom Williams doubled their lead just before half-time. Teenager Carter Norris reduced the deficit on the hour mark, but Street stood firm to record their first league victory of the season.
