BOW STREET returned to winning ways in the MMP Mid Wales League division one with a 3-0 win over Llansantffraid - to leave them in good heart for the visit of Ceredigion rivals Aberaeron on Wednesday evening (6.45pm).
After their midweek defeat away at Tywyn/Bryncrug, the Magpies produced a solid performance, and goals from Steffan Richards, Dylan Benjamin and Llion Rhys Jenkins sealed their second league win in three matches this season.
Aberaeron’s tough start to the new season, which has seen three trips into Montgomeryshire in eight days, continued as they were hammered 9-1 at Caersws.
Peter Rees led the way for the Bluebirds with five goals, with Mark Edmondson, Craig Harris, Rhydian Davies, and Jamie Hyne also getting onto the scoresheet.
Liam Doherty scored a consolation goal for Aberaeron, who have moved quickly to appoint former boss Alan Foligno as first team manager, and he will take charge of their fixture on Wednesday.
Llanidloes Town, after comfortable wins against Montgomery and Aberaeron, dropped their first points of the season after being pegged back to a 1-1 draw at Builth Wells.Daf Carruthers had given the Daffs an interval lead in superb fashion when he hooked Adam Worton’s free kick over his shoulder, before then brilliantly volleying home the opening goal.
Builth levelled after the break, however, as keeper Kris Williams conceded an indirect free kick a yard out after picking the ball up twice, and the ball was pulled back for Tom Bethell to smash home.
Llandrindod Wells made it three successive wins as goals by Ryan Sims, Darren Murphy and Daryl Nicholls sealed a 3-2 win at Berriew, who had scored through Harry Watkins and Richard Davies.
Ben Sims twice took the lead for Four Crosses, but visitors Carno hit back to draw 2-2 through a Richie Evans penalty and a late equaliser from Andy Evans.
Striker Matty Tong put Hay St Mary’s ahead at home to Welshpool, but the visitors equalised late in the game when Dan Bowen salvaged a point for the visitors.
Veteran striker Kevin Jones came out of retirement to play in goal for the Saints, and he saved a penalty in the 71st minute, tipping the ball over at full stretch.
A depleted Kerry claimed an excellent 2-2 draw at home to Montgomery, with Max Mclaughlin putting them ahead, and super sub Luke Evans nodding home from close range in the dying moments, after a Glynn Coney goal and a Tom Evans penalty had put Monty in front.
