TWO late goals sent Llandysul through to the semi-finals of the Emrys Morgan Cup, and a chance to make amends for losing to Llanfair United Reserves in last season’s final.

The Swallows deserved their 3-1 win over Costcutter Ceredigion League rivals Crannog, but they were forced to work hard by the Llangrannog side.

The visitors made a dream start when George Colven tapped home from short range after only a few minute, but this was the only real chance of the first half for his team.

Llandysul, through the likes of Terry Maynard and Ian Barrett, dominated for long periods, with centre back Dean Jones going close with a header from a corner, and Adrian Hazelby seeing a powerful shot go just wide.

Hazelby equalised just before the break when he curled a superb right footed shot past keeper Rhydian Morgan, that went in off the upright.

Crannog got stronger as the game went on and Dylan Davies made a superb break that should have ended with a goal, whilst at the other end Jones went close with a snap shot.

With just 10 minutes to go, Maynard was upended in the penalty box and referee Llyr Evans had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Up stepped Dean Jones to fire his team ahead.

Eight minutes later it was all over as Barrett claimed the third goal with a good strike to send his team through - and they will look to do it all over again at the same venue in the League Cup quarter-finals this Saturday.

• BONT progressed to the Emrys Morgan Cup semi-finals for the first time in the club’s history after a first half hat-trick from Dewi Sion Evans sent them on their way to a 4-2 victory at home to local rivals Tregaron Turfs.

Despite the visitors having the better of the early possession, it was the home side who took the lead when Tregaron failed to clear their lines and Sam Jones handled in the box, with Evans netting the penalty with ease.

Evans doubled the tally after glancing home a powerful Andrew Gilbert corner from three yards out, and Evans went on to complete his hat-trick after peeling off the defence and finding space on the back post to give the home side a 3-0 lead at half time.

The second half began as the first ended, but this time it was Lee Jones who got on the scoresheet after drilling home a free kick from 20 yards, leaving the keeper flat-footed for what seemed like an unassailable lead.

Credit must be given to the visitors though as they kept on fighting and coming at the Bont defence, and they were rewarded for their efforts when Llyr Davies found himself free at the back post to slot home their first goal.

A good strike from the edge of the area from Ifan Jones then gave the scoreline more respectability, but the Tangerines hung on to reach their second semi-final in as many weeks.

There was a scare for Tregaron midfielder Gareth Davies, who took a heavy knock to the head after an accidental collision with moments to go, but thankfully after a few minutes of treatment, he was able to get back on to his feet and was communicating with everybody after the final whistle.
