BAY Cup holders Llandysul moved smoothly through to the quarter-finals of this season’s competition as they beat Cilgerran Rovers by 4-1 last weekend.
Ben Thomas headed home from a Lewis Jones free kick, and Scott Thomas doubled the visitors lead on the hour.
Jones then latched on to a through ball from Mathew Newbold, calmly chipped the ball over the keeper and ran past him to poke the ball home from close range.
Cilgerran hit back with a consolation goal, before Llandysul secured their safe passage with a second goal from Jones.
Llandysul had cruised through to the second round by beating Aberaeron Reserves 4-0 in midweek, courtesy of their goals from Mathew Newbold, with a brace, Scott Thomas and Josh Baker.
In league action, Costcutter League Cup winners Newcastle Emlyn lost 2-0 to a youthful Dewi Stars, as the race for runners up spot was thrown wide open.
Andrew Jones was the quickest to react from a corner to give his team an interval lead, and 15 minutes after the break 16 year old Rupert Geddes turned on a sixpence on the edge of the box to drill home an excellent second goal.
Crannog beat Cardigan 5-0 with a Gary Davies brace and singles from Rhys Davies, Mike Glover and Marc Davies.
St Dogmaels came from a goal down to beat Bargod 6-1, with a hat-trick from Adam Williams and singles by Rhys Jones, Tom Rogers and John Midgley.There were wins also for New Quay who beat Aberaeron Reserves by 2-1 and Lampeter who fired three past Felinfach.Division two champions Ffostrasol all but ended any hopes that Maesglas had of clinching promotion with a 8-2 hammering at Parc Troedrhiw. The Blues now have to hope that Pencader who have five games in hand over the Maes Radley side come unstuck in the last few weeks of the season.
On target for the Wanderers were Aled Rumble who claimed a hat trick, Gwynfor Bowen with two, Dion Davies, Alun Bowen and Carwyn Morgan. In the other game played in the division Llanboidy edged out Aberporth by 2-1 thanks to goals from Celt Jones and Chris Court.
