Llandysul will go head to head with St Dogmaels in the semi-final of the Costcutter Ceredigion League Cup after they saw off second division outfit Maesglas 3-1 in a very tough encounter.
The Blues defied their lowly standing and put the visitors under a great deal of pressure at times, but ex-Maesglas keeper Nathan Jones made some fine saves.
The Swallows had taken an early lead with goals by Chris Harris and Mathew Newbould, and the result was finally made safe 10 minutes from time when Newbould tapped home to make it 3-0.
Maesglas, however, kept battling on and claimed a late consolation goal when new recruit Tommy Furbear fired home.
In division one, Lampeter Town moved to within two points of leaders St Dogmaels with a 3-1 victory over Llanboidy.
The North Road side, who have played two more games than the Saints, were forced to come from a goal down after Frazer Wyatt had nipped in to score.
Jason Jones equalised before the break with a superb volley, but it was one-way traffic in the second half as Lampeter’s Gethin Hunter and captain and man of the match Marc Evans sealed victory.
An under strength Felinfach beat local rivals Aberaeron Reserves 3-0, with winger Huw Davies rifling the first goal into the top corner from 25-yards out.
In the second half, Kieron Boyes lobbed the keeper from around 30 yards, and Boyes rounded the keeper to cap off an impressive performance by the Milkmen.
Newcastle Emlyn beat visitors Ffostrasol by 3-2, after first half goals from Huw Jones and Cory Davies had set the Reds on their way. Steffan Evans and Dafydd Phillips replied, but in the final few minutes Sam Skinner fired home the winner.
Cardigan pulled away from the relegation zone with a 5-1 win over fellow strugglers Bargod Rangers at Parc Puw. Owen Williams led the way for the Magpies with a well-taken hat-trick, and there were also two goals for Ewan Jones.
• Crannog Reserves were crowned champions of the Costcutter Ceredigion League division three after they accounted for hosts Llanboidy Reserves 4-0.
Goals by Dan Robinson, Dylan Jones, Ben May and Michael Jamieson sealed a successful day for the Llangrannog men.
Second-placed Lampeter Town Reserves meanwhile beat Felinfach Reserves 6-2 in the other division three fixture.
