Llanuwchllyn's match against Rhyl 1879 abandoned after injury

LLANUWCHLLYN’Ss match against Rhyl was abandoned in dramatic circumstances after a serious injury to visiting player Billy Holmes brought proceedings to an early end.

The game at Llanuwchllyn had remained finely balanced throughout, with neither side able to break the deadlock despite creating several promising chances.

As the contest entered stoppage time, the home side appeared set for a golden opportunity to snatch victory. A collision between Holmes and Gwydion Roberts led to the referee awarding a penalty.

However, before the kick could be taken, play was halted following a serious injury to Holmes.

With two minutes of added time still remaining, the lengthy delay and severity of the incident prompted the referee to bring the match to an end.

As a result, the penalty was never taken, leaving Llanuwchllyn frustrated after coming within moments of a potential winning goal against one of Welsh football's most established clubs.
