ABERYSTWYTH’S Rhys Norrington-Davies is making the most of his time with the Cymru squad as the team strives to go deeper into the Euro 2020 competition after finishing second in Group A.

The former Ysgol Penglais pupil says “he is making sure to learn as much as possible” while on Wales duty and that the squad is "not satisfied" with just making the last 16.

Rob Page’s men face Denmark in Amsterdam’s Johan Cruyff Stadium on Saturday and the 22-year-old said ahead of the game: “There’s a great mixture of experienced and younger players in the squad.

“Having a fellow left back like Ben Davies in the team helps massively.

“He’s a great pro, on and off the field, and has been at the top of his game for a very long time now.

“You make sure to learn as much as possible while you are away.”

After drawing 1-1 against Switzerland and beating Turkey 2-0 in Baku, Wales were beaten 1-0 by Italy in Rome in their final Group A outing after a valiant performance which saw them play the last half hour with 10 men after Ethan Ampadu was sent off.

Looking back on the campaign so far the marauding left-back, who is on Sheffield United’s books after an impressive loan spell at Championship side Stoke City last season, added: “The games out in Baku were very important as we needed to make sure we put ourselves in a good position going into the final game in Rome.

“We knew Italy was going to be a very difficult game but one we looked forward to.

“To qualify for the last 16 of a major tournament is fantastic.

“However we’re not satisfied with that.

“We’ve got a good few days to work towards the game on Saturday, that’s where our focus is now.”
