PORTHMADOG have paid tribute to a club stalwart who recently passed away.

Ian Foulkes was a lifelong supporter and a familiar face at the Traeth who had served Port faithfully over the years, carrying out a myriad of essential chores on behalf of the club.

Those who travelled on the coach to the long haul away fixtures of the WPL will recall his regular presence, his tenor voice supporting the singing and especially his humour and leg-pulling.

Ian, who had not enjoyed the best of health in recent times and had been a resident at a nursing home in Criccieth, was a member of the club’s organising committee in the 1970s and 1980s and also served as groundsman. More recently he assisted with the Bingo evenings.

The club extends sincere sympathy to the family at this sad time.
