PWLLHELI’S FAW Amateur Trophy journey came to an abrupt end on Saturday as they were beaten 4-1 by Kinmel Bay despite arriving in confident mood.
The visitors found themselves two goals down inside 27 minutes, with Matty Beach opening the scoring before catching out the goalkeeper with a clever free-kick.
Pwllheli responded when Josua Jones’ free-kick took a deflection off a Kinmel Bay defender and found the net, offering hope of a comeback. However, those hopes were quickly dented as Antonio Jacovelli restored the hosts’ two-goal cushion with a neat chipped finish for his first goal of the season.
The game took another twist just before the break when Kinmel Bay’s Nyal Hughes suffered a facial injury in a challenge that resulted in a red card for himself.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, Kinmel Bay remained in control after Matthew Rees made it 4-1 early in the second half to end Pwllheli’s cup hopes.
