NEWCASTLE Emlyn completed a double over reigning Costcutter Ceredigion League division one champions Cardigan Town, with a 2-0 win at the King George Field last weekend.

The Magpies were reduced to 10 men when Sam Hall was sent off for a dangerous tackle early on, but in the second half Steve Hicks was also sent off for the visiting side.

Dafydd Owens had opened the scoring when the ball dropped kindly to him in the box, and towards the end of the first half Daniel Davies was bundled over in the penalty area, and John Curran tucked the away the spot kick.

Lampeter could only muster a bare 11 players for their derby with Dewi Stars, but this didn’t stop them taking a 3-0 lead after just half an hour with goals from Gethin Hunter, who bagged a brace, and Szymon Konwiak.

The Stars hit back with goals from Liam Jones and Andrew Jones, before Robert Slawkowski made it 4-2.

The Stars responded positively in the second half and Deian Williams scored, but Terry Witts sealed the win.

Meanwhile New Quay notched their first win of the season as goals from Aaron McCarthy, Charlie Dent, Glenn Baldwin and Charles Harvey secured a solid 4-0 win over Bargod Rangers.

In division two, Ffostrasol registered an entertaining 4-2 away win at Maesglas.

Kieran Harman floated a cross in for Dan Jones to nod Maesglas in front, but the Wanderers hit back with goals from Dion Phillips and a Carwyn Morgan header.

Phillips added his second for Ffostrasol when he dribbled his way into the box to score, and although Aaron Eldridge put the Blues back in the hunt, the visitors secured the win when Morgan met a cross to volley home.

Aberporth fired 10 past hapless SDUC, with Mike King and Reece Prowse both scoring four goals, along with further goals by Jonny Kinsella and Adam Narbett.CWPAN COFFA DAI DYNAMO DAVIESCRANNOG ended Llandysul’s 100 per cent record for the season as they registered a 3-2 win in the Dai ‘Dynamo’ Davies Memorial Cup.

The Swallows were missing key cogs in midfielder Ben Thomas and striker Adrian Hazelby, and were undone by a massive effort from the Llangrannog men.

Llandysul had opened the scoring when Ian Barrett scored following a corner, but George Colven fired an equaliser into the top corner.

Crannog went ahead when Huw Reed glanced in a header from a free kick by Rhys Davies, and it stayed 2-1 until 10 minutes to go, when Mathew Newbold equalised for the Swallows.

Crannog were not to be denied, however, and Colven struck with the winner with just two minutes remaining.

Llandysul went straight back to the half way line and from the restart, and Dean Jones lobbed the ball into the net, but the official in charge disallowed it as not all the Crannog players had returned to their own half.

St Dogmaels coasted to a 3-1 away win at Pencader, who were two goals down at the break through Chris Morgan and Chris Jones.

After the break, Saints’ keeper Justin Smith pulled off several fine saves, including from a penalty, before Daniel Jones found the net with a brilliant finish.

Pencader also hit the crossbar soon afterwards, but the Saints wrapped things up as John Midgley fired home.

Felinfach edged out Cilgerran Rovers 2-1 with goals from Lee Forrester and the winner from Owain Evans, either side of a second half equaliser from Dan Bellis.

Aberaeron Reserves struck three early goals to beat Padarn United 3-2, despite late replies by veteran Paul Griffiths and Graham Thomas.

Goals from Simon Bray, Mathew Evans from the penalty spot and Rhodri Thomas secured the win.
